chair of champions

For my final project for the fall of 2009, I'm designing and building a bench based on a contest that I had applied to earlier in the semester. So far the design has changed completely, but I only have a couple weeks to build and further design this. The material will be made of maple wood, and so far the estimated cost will be around 100 dollars. The image below was the design that I sent to the contest, and since then have developed further.

[sketchup] love

My first task for my internship was to develop a virtual model of the Georgetown Public Library, which was designed by McCool & McCool Architects. This model would help the clients to understand the design of the building, while it is under construction. My idea was to make a virtual tour, to further enhance the design, and my skills at Sketchup. The task took about a month and a half to complete, and was well appreciated by the staff and directors of the library. The board ended up using the virtual movie in their fundraiser, and my works were mentioned in the Sussex Countian in September.

The images above are options I presented to the client for the addition. The tile materials are made up of ceramic and glass. The options that were chosen were the first two larger images. Each design would be composed on two walls. The design with the stripe of patten would be on the walls where there wouldn't be any appliances, and the other design would be on the other walls with appliances. Having this option would allow the client to save money on glass tile. The tile was quoted and ordered from daltile, the color choices were inspired by the schools colors, teal and purple.

estimated cost of tile: $20,000
